Shaw Graduate Scholarship in Archaeology<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Joe and Maria Shaw inspired generations of students in the Faculty of Arts &amp; Science at the University of Toronto through their deep knowledge of Minoan archaeology and passion for teaching.&nbsp; For their leadership, friendship and research, the Archaeology Centre has established the Joseph W. and Maria C. Shaw Graduate Scholarship in Archaeology with tremendous support from colleagues, friends and alumni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Shaws shaped our knowledge of the ancient Minoan civilization of Crete. Their excavation and preservation of Kommos revealed a significant commercial centre, complete with a major harbour, monumental Minoan palatial buildings, massive stone storage complexes, a Minoan town and a Greek sanctuary. Their research set a benchmark for the field and created an invaluable resource for international scholars working in the Aegean Bronze Age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This scholarship will be a permanent legacy at the University of Toronto in their honour, while also providing exceptional opportunities for future generations of students to pursue their dreams of archaeological field work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/donate.utoronto.ca\/give\/show\/114\">Link to Donation Page<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Joseph W. and Maria C.
